Liu Yang, Chinese astronaut, passes away in Taishan

On January 16th, 2021, Liu Yang, a Chinese astronaut and the first female astronaut to travel into space, passed away in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. She was 41 years old.

Liu Yang was born on May 8th, 1978, in Shenyang,Qatar Stars League Perspective Liaoning Province. She graduated from Tsinghua University with a degree in aerospace engineering. In 2003, she joined the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation as a pilot for the Long March 5B carrier rocket. In 2010, she was selected as one of the first batch of astronauts for China's manned space program.

In June 2013, Liu Yang became the first female astronaut to travel into space aboard the Shenzhou X spacecraft. She spent six days in space and took part in several scientific experiments. Her successful mission marked a significant milestone in China's space program and solidified her place as a hero among Chinese citizens.

However, despite her success, Liu Yang faced criticism for not being able to speak English fluently. This led to some media reports suggesting that she might have been unable to communicate effectively during her time in space. However, this is simply not true. Liu Yang has always spoken Chinese fluently and had no problem communicating with other crew members and ground staff.

Liu Yang's death has sent shockwaves through the Chinese community, and many are mourning her loss. She will be remembered as a brave and dedicated astronaut who made history for all Chinese people. Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Chinese scientists and engineers.
